and introducing: DAI-NICHI
35 years since they formed in Yeovil, Somerset, The Chesterf!elds are back for a short run of UK dates.
The Chesterf!elds came to prominence as part of the ‘C-86’ scene of bands along with The Wedding Present, Primal Scream, The Soup Dragons and more. They released two albums “Kettle” (1987) and “Crocodile Tears” (1988) before splitting in 1989. The newly reformed group also now feature Andy Strickland of The Loft & The Caretaker Race.
Formed in 1990, The Suncharms released two EPs in 1991 which then led to a Peel session in 1992. In 1993 they played the last gig of their initial phase. In March 2016 Cloudberry Records released a retrospective CD compilation, and in 2017 they played their first gig since 1993 opening for The Orchids and The Chesterfields. Over the past few years the band have been busy working on new songs, releasing a 7″ single on Slumberland Records in 2018.
Dai-Nichi are Seiko Nemoto (Bass and Vocals) and Yuko Yamasaki (Guitar and Vocals). Together they play a form of artpop/postpunk with echoes of bands like Gang Of Four and XTC.
